Business Valuation Consult
90 minutes with Tiffani Lindstrom, CPA, CVA
There is a business, a professional practice, or a partnership interest in the marital estate, and its value is about to be argued over.
What you get
- Ninety minutes with a Certified Valuation Analyst on how this asset gets valued
- What the valuation approaches are and which one is likely to be used here
- Where the number is most contestable, and what evidence moves it
- What to ask for in discovery before the other side's number is fixed
- A written summary afterwards
What this is not
This is not a formal valuation report, an appraisal, or expert testimony. It does not produce a number you can file or rely on in court — engaging for a valuation engagement is separate work with its own scope and fee.
When a closely held business is part of a divorce, the value of that business is usually the largest single number in the case and the least well understood. It is not a bank balance. It is an opinion, produced by a method, and the method is arguable.
The people who do badly are the ones who see the other side’s valuation for the first time when it is already an exhibit. This session is about understanding the mechanics early enough to do something about them.
